A Cause Worth Fighting For

The Ron Paul Revolution has always been a revolution for restoring the Constitutional Republic of the United States. It has always been about fighting for the principles that have made the United States the greatest country in the world: freedom, liberty, and limited federal government. It is a revolution that will continue. The fight for freedom is never won, and must be battled from generation to generation.

At this moment in time, the fight for freedom is concentrated in the Ron Paul campaign. The battle for Republican Ron Paul delegates is still being fought in every state, and the results of this struggle will not be known until the Republican Convention in September. The cause of freedom and liberty cannot be lost. In his latest statement, Ron Paul said that we must still work hard to get the maximum number of votes and delegates. He also said that the chances of victory in a conventional political sense is not possible; however, who ever said a brokered convention is “conventional”?

Is a brokered convention out of the question? Despite misinformation from the mainstream media, John McCain does not have the necessary number of delegates to have the nomination sewn up. The caucus and delegate process is more complicated than many in the media would have you believe, and in many cases the numbers of delegates for any particular candidate are not known.

Republican county conventions are occurring right now throughout the west and across the country. Every single Ron Paul Republican needs to show up; every single one, even those that aren’t delegates. We should have learned by now to NOT listen to the media, and to NOT believe the pundits; not even “Ron Paul friendly” pundits. They all believe they are national presidential election strategy experts, but they are not. Rush Limbaugh is not. Alex Jones is not. TV anchors are not.

If we have not been to our county conventions, if we haven’t become delegates, if we haven’t become precinct committeeman for our precinct, we are failing our country at this crucial moment. We must become involved. We must run for county central committee and state delegate positions. We should all become precinct committeemen right now.

These are the things we can do. These are things that we have to do. Don’t complain. We can take our government back - - RIGHT NOW. No one else is going to do it for us. It has always been up to us. After all, why didn’t you do it a year ago? Or five years ago? Or ten years ago?

Since so many of us didn’t, we are facing the possibility of a John McCain Republican ticket. Many conservatives find John McCain distasteful, to say the least. I have yet to meet a John McCain supporter who is not also a staffer. If conservatives don’t have much love for John McCain, who does the Republican Party expect to support him in the general election? McCain is probably the least electable of the entire Republican field that has vied for the White House this past election season. What if the Republican Party comes to this realization? What if skeletons in John McCain’s closet are rattled so all the country can hear? What if the economy continues to decline? What if Ron Paul supporters remain energized, and continue to spread his message of intelligent solutions based on Constitutional principles to a world going increasingly insane?

We don’t know what will happen between now and September. We don’t know where the Ron Paul campaign will go. What we do know is that the principles of the Ron Paul Revolution are worth fighting for. We can still work to get Ron Paul delegates at the county level, at the state level, and at the national level. We can take over the Republican Party itself by becoming part of central committees and changing the ideology and direction of the party itself. In many states, that process is already well underway.

We started this revolution over a year ago and we have since made strides that most of us, including Ron Paul, did not think were possible. If we continue to believe, if we continue this fight, if we stand for what we believe in, how much could we change the world?

This article began with a quote from Thomas Paine, and I’d like to end with another:

“We have it in our power to begin the world over again.”

It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of this battle. We must not let all the efforts of the past year fade away. The Ron Paul Revolution is still being fought in the battle for delegates in every state until the National Convention in September. The Revolution for freedom and against tyranny that was fought for in 1776 will continue to be fought the world over, as long as people anywhere want to be free.
