Ron Paul Revolution in Full Swing at Sparks Rib Cookoff

SPARKS, NV, 9/1/07-- Nevadans for Ron Paul, the Reno-based Ron Paul support group, was out in force at the Sparks Rib Fest this Saturday to spread Ron Paul's message of freedom, prosperity, and peace. Sixteen members of the local group, wearing Ron Paul T-shirts and buttons, were armed with signs that read: "Ron Paul Revolution", "Honk for Ron Paul", and "Ron Paul Hope for America". They stood for almost four hours on the corner of Pyramid and C Street, passing out over five hundred flyers to pedestrians going to and from the Rib Fest in Victorian Square.

"Learn about Ron Paul," said Jessica, a Ron Paul supporter, as she passed out flyers to passerby. Most people accepted the flyers, and a few stopped to ask questions about Ron Paul. The Ron Paul supporters tried to educate people about Ron Paul's beliefs. Ron Paul is a ten term Congressman from Texas who takes his oath of office seriously; he consistently votes only for bills that strictly adhere to the U.S. Constitution. He wants to limit the size and scope of the federal government, and give control back to the states. Dr. Paul does not believe U.S. troops should be sent on no-win police actions around the globe, and would bring the troops home from Iraq. Ron Paul's supporters in Sparks believe they spread this message to hundreds, maybe thousands, of people on Saturday. Over five hundred flyers were passed out, and vehicle traffic was heavy in the area throughout the afternoon and evening. Numerous cars honked their horns in response to the groups' highly visible signs and banners, and many motorists waved to show support.

Nevadans for Ron Paul is a local group that began from the Meet-Up website, and is one of 834 such Ron Paul Meet-Up groups across the nation. The groundswell of grassroots activism spawned by the Ron Paul campaign is unprecedented in recent political history. The widespread appeal of Dr. Paul's message is demonstrated by the diverse backgrounds of Ron Paul supporters. Libertarians, anti-war activists, conservatives, anti-abortion advocates, pro-Second Amendment activists, and many other demographics are backing Ron Paul. As Dr. Paul has said, "Freedom is popular!"
