Reno Ron Paul Group: First Meeting, June 13, 2007
The first meeting of the Reno Ron Paul Meet-Up group took place on Wednesday, June 19th, at Walden's Coffeehouse. At this meeting, the members introduced themselves, brainstormed for ideas to promote Ron Paul's cause, and set a meeting for the following week.
Twelve people attended this meeting. The high turnout was a surprise to most of the attendees, and the members had to crowd into the small side room of the chic coffeehouse on the corner of Mayberry and McCarran. After introductions, a pad of paper was passed around the group, for each member to add their ideas for promoting Ron Paul in the northern Nevada area. This "brainstorming session" produced the following list of activism ideas:
- T-shirts,
- bumper stickers,
- automobile roof advertising,
- advertisements in the Reno News and Review and on local bulletin boards, spreading the word to all email contact lists,
- contacting the Ron Paul Revolution group in Austin, Texas,
- becoming involved at the Sparks Farmer's Market,
- forming a local Ron Paul website with an email list and a forum,
- public meetings at Wingfield Park,
- public picketing at other locations,
- videos for YouTube and local media,
- public displays at other political events,
- banners,
- getting a local music group to sponsor a rally,
- advertising with "Freedom to Fascism" movie to promote Ron Paul.
